Who we are

Crossroads is a not for profit organisation dedicated to supporting, serving and strengthening carers and those with care needs. We have been helping people across Northern Ireland since 1979.

A little bit about us

Crossroads is a registered charity and not for profit organisation that depends upon a major part of our domiciliary work being obtained through contracts with the Health and Social Services Trusts. In order to meet the needs of the additional project financially, Crossroads receives support from local companies and grant making bodies who are an invaluable resource for funding special projects and meeting some of the needs of carers in Northern Ireland. Many of these companies and grant making bodies are committed to supporting Crossroads’ work year after year. Some of the special projects we have obtained funding for from these sources are ; Terminal illness, Life limited children, Alzheimer’s/ Dementia, In your Prime project and Young Carers Project.

Our Services

Crossroads Care NI is a voluntary organisation whose sole purpose is to provide as much respite care as possible to carers of whatever age and disability. Crossroads have been providing a service to Carers in Northern Ireland since 1979. We provide services through our domiciliary, Young Carers and In Your Prime projects.

  • Domiciliary jobs

We are an established domiciliary care provider helping people live independently at home through person centred care. We focus on the care, support and treatment we give to service users, their family and their carers. We seek to take a holistic approach to care, seeing out service users as a whole person, not focusing purely on their symptoms or condition.

  • Training

Crossroads have two fully equipped training suites in Belfast and Ahoghill. Our state of the art Belfast office, located at 432 Upper Newtownards Road is just a 10 minute drive from Belfast City Centre, and includes a separate moving and handling training room with a wide range of equipment commonly used to help care for and assist people with different care needs. Our Ahoghill training office, located at 8-10 The Diamond, is fully equipped, and only a 10 minute drive from Ballymena Town Centre.

  • Young carers

As the first organisation to recognise the role of Young Carers, it has been our vision since 1994 to support, serve and strengthen Young Carers. We primarily provide social support as our Young Carers meet others in similar situations, through outings. We recognise the vital role young people play in caring for an ill/disabled family member on a daily basis. We seek raise awareness about the issue of young carers amongst health, education and social work. In recent months we successfully piloted an education project which offered are very youngest Young Carers 1-1 online tutoring to ensure their caring role does not hinder their educational attainment and future life chances. Since 1994, we have helped  over 3000 Young Carers from many different regions of Northern Ireland.

  • Crossroads care recruitment

Our mission is to provide quality, highly trained dependable staff to our customers, whenever they need us. We exist solely to provide financial support to Crossroads Care NI Charity. All profits from this company will be donated and used to support the vital work the charity does.

  • In your prime

Crossroads In Your Prime project tackles loneliness and social isolation among older people in Northern Ireland. We primarily provide a befriending service, where our volunteers visit isolated older people once a week. This service is invaluable and we are so grateful for our volunteers who visit. Volunteers are matched with someone in their local area. All we ask of our volunteers is to visit someone for an hour, once a week. We want the older people we support to forge genuine friendships with volunteers and many do, so they meet up for longer periods or more regularly. Our project also supports isolated older people through events such as coffee mornings, Christmas dinners and intergenerational activities that involve both older and younger people interacting and learning from one another by using their skills and experiences.

  • Children's activity room

We have a state of the art Sensory room where children of all ages can go and enjoy peaceful surroundings to suit each individual need. This is an incredibly popular room purpose-built with hoists to ensure all children can make the most of it!
